While having been around for many years, it has recently found viral fame and people are scared of it. This is due to the potency with which it has been killing and spreading all over the world. The number of infections right now is low but the rate of its spread is skyrocketing everyday. Containing it is paramount of our survival and that is why awareness of it needs a raise. Coronavirus is the type of virus that is the main culprit behind many common cold flu outbreaks. Its literal meaning with Greek word ‘corona’ is Crown, which describes the characteristic shape of its virions, which resembles a crown. Its symptoms are high fever and the usual symptoms of the normal cold. There is a newer yet mysterious strain of it erupting in China, with thousands of cases having been already be identified. There is no vaccine or treatment of it. This one is going by the name of Novel Coronavirus (this is a placeholder name). The word ‘novel’ here means newer. This is because it has not yet been given an actual name. While it has cold like symptoms, it is turning out to be much more critical for the health of the afflicted person.

Like many other related viruses that came before it is the same with new breed of coronavirus that is spreading like wild-fire in China. It has been confirmed to be originating from the city of Wuhan, the sprawling capital of China’s Hubei province. It originates from a specific and popular market where there is extensive trade of wild animals. These animals include bats, wild monkeys, yaks, porcupines, rodents and even bats. From a scientific point of view, the selling of the wild animals already make this capital of Hubei province of China much dangerous than previously imagined. As of now, it is under quarantine state. The origin of this newer coronavirus is thought to be stemming from bats.

The current death toll is at 100 while on previous Monday it was at the number 81. This is a steep rise of death toll in just one week. And this is just the death toll. The number of cases of afflicted persons is incredibly high with 3000 cases already been identified. The number of cases are expected to rise even higher.

There has been no vaccine yet for Coronavirus. But what you can do is that you do the same things that should be in action to avoid a common cold flu. These are the things like sanitizing your hands, avoiding contact with an afflicted person and so on.
